Our Work: Client Stories

Client: Matt Bussey
Matthew Bussey IMS LLC

RightBrain has worked continuously with Inventory Management Solutions (IMS) LLC, a military and government supplier, since 2009. We supplement IMS's in-house development efforts by undertaking special projects and advising on technical strategy. We also manage the underlying website infrastructure which serves approximately 330,000 US military personnel and contractors per month, allowing them to track over $2B worth of US Government-owned equipment around the world.

How We Helped

  • Converted handwritten web pages into a database-driven application, increasing number of pages indexed by Google by a factor of 350x and tripling monthly pageviews within seven months.
  • Consulted on e-commerce strategy, including: recommending a move to the BigCommerce e-commerce platform and using Amazon.com’s fulfillment services. Annual online sales revenue increased by more than $1.2MM as a direct result.
  • Developed an Android application to put crucial Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) information into the hands of US Soldiers in the field. More info.

Services provided

Software engineering, programming (PHP, Python, and Java), e-commerce strategy, project management, systems engineering/support.

Client: Bob Levy
Robert Levy TradeCurrents LLC

Ten months into development, TradeCurrents LLC retained RightBrain Networks to evaluate the design of a web-based application built by a local software firm. The project is a competitive intelligence search engine containing details of nearly every cargo container that arrives into the United States via sea. Users are able to research vast amounts of information about suppliers, competitors, and product markets. Ill-equipped to handle this large of a dataset, the application was too slow to be usable and project launch was in jeopardy. See how fast TradeCurrents.com is now.

How We Helped

  • RightBrain Networks rebuilt the application from scratch. The proof-of-concept was delivered to the client within 12 hours. The entire application was launched in less than three months, including the creation of a RESTful API for third-party developer access.
  • The PostgreSQL database contains over 40 million records, with an average of 35,000 added daily. Search is powered by a horizontally partitioned, distributed Sphinx index hosted in our datacenter. It has been tested to provide sub-second response under a load of hundreds of queries per minute.
  • User-interface developed using HTML5 and jQuery for a clean, modern aesthetic, with a focus on enhancing usability on mobile devices.

Services provided

Software engineering, programming (Python), user interface (UI) design, search engine optimization (SEO), managed hosting/colocation.

Client: Jeff Whitman
Jeff Whitman Air Safety Group LLC.

Air Safety Group LLC is a commercial aviation consulting group with clients around the world. ASG engaged RightBrain Networks to adapt their proprietary processes into a multi-faceted, web-based application. The product, AvSMS®, seeks to reduce the risks to loss of life and property by documenting the procedures used to operate and maintain aircraft. The goal is to use this data in predictive models to intelligently and preemptively recommend remediation steps. Learn more about AvSMS®.

How We Helped

  • Provided an expert “technical team in a box” to help get AvSMS® to market quickly and correctly--without the ramp-up hurdles typically encumbering start-ups.
  • Software development lifecycle managed entirely by RightBrain Networks, including: separate development/staging/production environments, unit and regression testing, bug tracker, formal QA processes, and dedicated project management.
  • AvSMS® is designed as a multi-tenant application using isolated PostgreSQL database schemas for vastly increased security and scalability. The flexibility of this "sharded" design also permits organizations to host their own database on-premises for legal or compliance requirements.

Client: Matt Kroc
Matt “Kroc” Kroczaleski MattKroc.com

Matt “Kroc” Kroczaleski is a world champion and world record holding powerlifter as well as a national caliber bodybuilder. By day, Kroc is also a full-time pharmacist with very little time to pack boxes and ship orders. He needed an easy-to-use, turnkey e-commerce solution to promote his products and services, publish his training information, and connect with his fans. Visit Kroc's website.

How We Helped

  • From concept to completion, the website was launched in two weeks and 18% under budget.
  • Powered by Wordpress using two plugins developed by RightBrain Networks and a highly modified e-commerce theme.
  • Custom integration with the Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) API. Amazon warehouses the client’s products, electronically receives fulfillment orders, and then picks, packs, and ships to the customer. This process is transparent to the shopper and allows the operation of a completely “hands off” online store for Kroczaleski.

Services provided

Programming (Wordpress/PHP), e-commerce strategy, web hosting, credit card merchant services.
