Custom Business Software
RightBrain Networks uses an agile software development process that is very tightly focused on understanding our clients' businesses needs before the first byte of code is written. Some of the things that make us different include: dedicated project management, a 100% US-based engineering team, and formalized QA processes to greatly reduce bugs. Much of the software we create is crucial to the business operations of our clients, such as: custom databases, point-of-sale software, data mining/reporting, and similar applications. Depending on the needs of the client, we function as a consulting software engineering firm assisting a client-managed in-house/offshore development team, or we provide a turnkey solution by building and supporting the application we design.
Web & Mobile Applications
Our primary focus is on technically-complex web and mobile apps. We don't create many simple, "brochureware" websites but are more often called in to save a project that's stumped the other guys. We're back-end programming specialists and making websites that "do stuff" is our bread and butter. We're highly experienced in coding in a variety of languages, but most frequently rely upon PHP, Java, and especially Python. On the front-end, we have considerable expertise with Javascript/jQuery, HTML5, and CSS. Having developed numerous custom plugins and themes for Wordpress, it is our "go to" blogging/CMS platform.
E-Commerce
Our staff has been crafting e-commerce websites since 1996 and we've learned a lot along the way. Using first-hand experience, we help clients maximize sales revenue by developing SEO-friendly online stores. Depending on the needs and scale of the project, we are able to create a completely custom solution or build upon the e-commerce platform powered by our partner, BigCommerce.
Cloud Consulting
As an early adopter of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) in 2006, we have extensive experience using the platform to design highly-scalable and durable applications. We cut through the hype and can advise on whether a particular project is more suited for the cloud or traditional IT infrastructure. We are also the founder and host of AWS Michigan, a Amazon Web Services user group for the region and are routinely retained by other software development firms to consult on cloud-based deployments.
Datacenter Services
RightBrain designed and manages our own private network in a local SAS 70-certified datacenter. We provide both shared hosting accounts using CPanel and more advanced co-location services. Paired with our development services, our end-to-end solution eliminates the inevitable "finger pointing" associated with building and hosting an application with two, separate vendors. Our datacenter services are also often provided in tandem with our cloud-based applications to provide a cost-effictive, redundant backup.
Merchant Accounts
As a compliment to our e-commerce services, RightBrain is a merchant account ISO agent. We assist businesses (both online and offline) in accepting credit cards, debit cards, and electronic checks. For established businesses, we can analyze monthly statements and help reduce existing merchant service fees. We have extensive experience working with payment gateways (such as Authorize.Net) to make intergrating credit card payments into existing systems effortless.

We don't do branding or know much about marketing. Advertising is a bit of a mystery too. But helping these professionals is something we've gotten down to a science. We regularly lend our expertise to small and mid-sized creative agencies who need a reliabile partner in helping deliver on techicial projects.
